Busworld Russia 2018 – A Review

Here at School Travel Manager, we like to follow any bus industry news with great interest. By knowing what the trends and new innovations that are coming into the group transportation industry we can keep dovetailing our solutions to take on board all the relevant new technology.

That is why we were so interested in the Busworld Russia 2018 exhibition and what the exhibitors had to show.

Busworld Russia – 2018

This eagerly awaited event took place in the Russian Capital, Moscow during October 2018. Firstly there was good news on both fronts as the increase in exhibitors brought a rise in visitors to this year’s event.

The Crocus Expo was where all the action happened and Hall 2 was bursting at the scenes with buses and bus components and every sort of accessory imaginable including tracking software packages.

The event was over three days and attracted over five thousand visitors which was a staggering 50% rise on the 2016 exhibition. Although the majority of the attendees were Russian the event also attracted many international visitors.

There were eighty-four companies from fourteen countries and the president of Busworld declared, The Fair was a Great Success.

The Exhibitors

There was a wide selection of exhibitors attending Busworld Russia 2018, including some major international players.

GAZ Group

GAZ Group presented a new generation of buses at the fair, with the Vector NEXT 8.8 which has an increased capacity for passengers and the updated CRUISE intercity bus. Even the GAZelle NEXT 4.6 minibus was on show that can transport up to twenty-two passengers.


Kamaz showed another new bus, the large class trolleybus KAMAZ-62825 which has an increased autonomous course of more than twenty kilometers. Also an electric bus the KAMAZ-6282 was also displayed of which a modified version is being taken by Mosgortrans.


Volgabus had a unique electric bus on display, the CityRhythm-12E. It has night charging capacity and the ability to run autonomously the whole day. (Up to three hundred kilometers). The bus has a low-floor body layout and the capacity of a city car.


The MAN exhibition stand mostly exhibited modern tourist buses which demonstrated unique driver workplace as opposed to the passenger compartment. The buses used LED technology for their headlights which was new to Busworld.

Anadolu Isuzu

The Turkish manufacturer displayed four buses, two of which were semi-low floor buses with rear engines. And two were tourist buses that had engines mounted in the front. In 2019 the company will open a Russian office and have an assembly plant in the country.

Busworld Russia 2018 gave many insights to what industry manufacturers are currently working at, and what is to come in the future.
